Angus Valley Stables Presents Equicise

What is Equicise?

It is a combination of Yoga, Pilates and Ballet designed to work specific areas of your body to assist you with your equitation.  Strengthening, lengthening and limbering your riding muscle groups will improve your balance and help you ride more in sync with your horse.  Many collegiate equestrian teams use a form of Equicise to improve their riders’ abilities.  Ed Dabney, world renowned cowboy, recommends similar exercises what he calls Barnyard Yoga.  All of these exercises are low to no impact designed with riding instructors and seasoned riders to improve your seat, breathing techniques, build confidence and clear your mind.  Part of the joy of horseback riding is the peace you find on your horse.

We offer Equicise three times per week.  Our instructor Melinda Stump has 17 years of ballet experience, as well as sports training experience starting back in the mid 1980’s.  Classes are 45 minutes long and if you are in our lesson program you might like to attend a class on your lesson day to get you in the zone.
